Managing attachments on older posts
Is there any way to replace the photo attachments in my posts that are currently linked to files on my hard drive with the same photos that I have now uploaded to the member gallery? It seems that linking to the gallery takes up less alloted attachment space. I'm out of space (only been a member since February of this year) and I am looking to free up some additional room. I can't figure out a way to do it on older posts where the "edit" option has disappeared.

Why not just use the gallery from now on and you won't need any more "attachment" space?

Fyr, I think you can go under the user control panel (CP) button at the top. Go to the bottom and click on manage attachments. You should be able to erase old pics on there...

Haven't quite figured out how to insert the pics into my posts without "attaching" them. Funny thing is I think I did it in one of my early posts. Let's see if this works...

Aha! It worked, I was just trying to make it too complicated before... Simply open the picture, cut, and paste...
Thanks Greg

I was hoping there was a way to replace old pics. I believe that if you delete them then your posts just show the dreaded "red X" in a box where the picture should be. I want the pics to still be there for future reference, I just want to replace them with smaller ones.

if your pics were from something you hot linked to ( say photobucket or another website) if you change the orginal ( there) the link is changed so you will have the red x.

All the pics in my early posts were uploaded to TRT from my computer. Sounds like I am stuck just leaving it the way it is if I want the pics to remain in my posts.

How many attachments are we talking about?
Have you uploaded the pics to your gallery?
I can try to edit a few for you when I have time just link the threads here

The pics have all been uploaded to my gallery at this point. Basically it's just the pics in my build thread and my blog that I am concerned with. The links are both in my signature. It's about 70 pictures. I'd feel bad having you spend a bunch of time editing my threads for me though...
If you really want to, thanks!
