Chris is right

.
Until now i myself have never checked "new posts" on TRT before, but do on our sister forum "Birds of a Feather"(Currently BoF is not the size/same activity as TRT,and easier to check out new posts on BoF)
This can be a problem if announcements grow in the many club forums we have here.(can you imagine if every club had 3-4 announcements and they were shown when you click "new posts"?

) The list would be pretty long to scroll thru b4 you got to the regular ones.
Tho i can see where it could be important for some clubs to need this kind of thread, i believe the way to go is maybe somehow alter what the new posts include and what gets "seen" as a new post. if this kinda stuff stays in each club's forum i don't have a problem with it, but when it spills over to the general membership here having to scroll thru it all to get to the "regular" new posts that's when it becomes a problem.
I think it is something the behind the scenes people need to not include in the new post function, and if it stays in the club's areas , i'm ok with that.
And like Chris said, our related threads are in our members only sub forum, and not part of the general membership's access to see/deal with.
A lot of words here about something that prob can be remedied very easily, and to let you all know, it is being discussed among the Admin/Mod team currently.
