Spanky and others, One for the Books!

I thought I had seen it all but then I ran across this post on another message board. Below is a quote:

" I have been doing something for awhile that may make new fish live longer. I soak live brine in a solution of maracyn and formalin and water so that the brine are coated or absorb it. When I feed it to the new fish in my Q tank, the formalin is supposed to aide the liver in removing cyanide and the antibiotics help clean out the system. I have not had fish problems in a very long time."

I would love to hear what you guys think of this one.

Anyone interested in having photos of their fish published?
Is it OK to post links to aquarium magazines that are available online for free?

That has to be a typo in your quote.
I want to think it is supposed to read:

"...the formalin is supposed to aid the cyanide in removing the liver, and the antibiotics help clean out the wallet. I have not had fish live for a very long time."

Considering that when you're using prepared foods as a vehicle to transport meds into a animal, as a rule you have to use a much higher concentration of most meds.
If the BS are still alive, he's not doing anything - really.

I was thinking, the hobbyist could have just as easily substituted Guiness extra stout, or even Henriques & Henriques Madeira, for all that junk.

Somehow it would seem more humane.
I mean, if I were the fish....

I hope the hobbyist in question has since been advised properly.
