Try searching for Spirastrella coccinea and see what you can find.

It was growing on a rock and had a skinny stalk and then fanned out into this..cut it in half????? its only a 16th of an inch thick...if that. Kinda feels rough like sargassium.
tdwyatt if that is what your tongue looks like???......What have you been licking man
Spanky I know that Seaweed an sponges have many simularities, but I think more coffie is needed prior to anymore searches,
 ....Oh that one hurt.

Sorry I'm late, I bought a 32MB PCI videocard to reduce my eyestrain during CS sessions, and the little bast simply wouldn't take. I wound up returning it. It seems nobody sells many PCI video cards anymore, and I just don't feel like upgrading to a board that takes AGP (That would mean getting a Duron/Athlon, or even a P4 these days ---too much CPU heat)
Anyways...
That thing doesn't quite look like any Halymenia I've come across. Maybe you can dig up other pics of that Genus (hehe, there's that searching again) and compare it with your pet.
But hey, maybe... the tiny spotting wasn't always there, or was it?
The spotting may simply signal one phase of its reproduction
