Well, I have to admit, I don't think the camel shrimp are much of a loss...nasty coral munchers

Xenia is wierd. It may very well grow back as long as you didn't scrub the rocks.

What's going on with the critically injured?

How did the move go, overall? Did you find someone to help you?

Alice

everything on the criticaly injured list is in pretty bad shape.

yeah the Xenia just melted into mush.

I liked my camels! They have been with my tank since day one.

Moving the tank was such a pain! I bought a 50 gallen tub to use as a holding tank for the corals and some fish, I stuck a heater and a couple power heads along with a bunch of rock for filtration.

the move overall sucked, and today thankfully is the last day! Down to cleaning the kitchen and shampoing a couple more carpets. Oh yeah and painting over all the scuffs and marks on the walls.

Mojo came down, and was a huge help with some big stuff!

Hehe, I was teasing you about the camels, I remembered that thread about them a while back

I don't care what U-Haul says, moving is NOT an "adventure" it's a PITA! And moving a tank is even worse.

Hats off to Mojo for again helping another reefer in need; Mike, you're a prince

Randy, I hope your corals, and you and your girlfriend! recover from the move as soon as possible.

Randy, you may be surprised what comes back! Don't lose all hope.

Hoorayyyy for Mike to come and help! This TRT group is fantastic even through a move, which as Alice said, is a major PITA.

Keep an eye on the toadstool Randy, if it starts to get mushy, try to frag some so it won't be a total loss

I have a question, been thinking of when I move what to watch out for. What went wrong? What caused all the problems?
Thanks,

Todd

i do not know what went wrong. all i can tell you is how i moved my old tank, a 55. i must have moved it 5 times in as many years without any losses. one of those moves was a 6 hour drive, so the tank was down over 12 hours.

all livestock was bagged into its own bag. i made sure i had enough fish transport stryrofoam boxes before the move. i used the 1 gallon sized ziploc bags for all of the livestock. i tried not to fill the bags with more than half of the water, so there would be enough gas exchange.

i used 2 brand new 50 gallon garbage cans with lids. i only put the LR and water in these. i used two to make it easier to get them in and out of a truck.

i left the substrate in the tank with just enough water to cover it. luckily it was a shallow sb at this time.

when i got to the other end, the first thing i did was get the g-cans aerating and heating. while the g-cans are aclimating i would put the stand and the tank together. and make at least enough frest SW for a 10% water change.

once the tank was together i would start putting in the LR, then the water. when one can was empty i would move the heater into the aquarium to keep the temp going up. after all of the LR is in the tank i would put the livestock in the tank, still in their bags, but open to get frest air in. hopefully the water levels are close, this is the hard part i have found. i would then turn on the system and let everything warm up together. after an hour or so i would start dipping the livestock in to get some fresher water in. when the tank is back up to normal temp i would start putting the corals in first then the fish.

this process worked for me. i do not know what you could have done different, but this is a different way to compare at least.

really sorry, to hear of all of your losses.

G~

Sorry to hear of your losses!! Hopefully you can save some! Alice idea of fragging is great so if you can frag some corals before they perish completely you can start with those! Keep the faith!
