Flying Fish Express bought by Drs. Foster & Smith

I just logged onto the Flying Fish Express web site, and it looks like they've been taken over by Drs. Foster & Smith. Not sure what that means...

Do you mean the "Drs." are evil? I've never used them so I don't have any experience with them.

Hey in my opinion this is a good thing, I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with these guys and their products, well their dog products anyway, hopefully they're just as good on the aquaria side!

for dry goods i have never had a problem w/ DrsFosterSmith...when i have asked at various places how FFE was i had gotten mixed results.

so, without any real experience in their livestock end of service- i'll just sit back and hope the change is for the better...

I was talking about Drs . It isnt that I think they have bad service/products, I just dont like one company owning everything (Microsoft). I like options, keeps prices down and selection/service high. My old FFE experience was great and I just can see it improving by being bought out by Drs. I'll have to email Petra and see if things are changing that much or not.

Dealt with Dr's F+S , for years b4 , when they were dog/cat only,,,was wondering how things would go when they bought up/took over the fish places,,,,never dealt with them so far on the fish stuff,,, but the selections in their catalogs look to be the good stuff,,,,(prices,,so-so)
gonna have to wait an' see,,,,if they stay the same as they have been b4,,,,,IMO , no worries

Well I was not real happy to hear this news either. I have ordered from both these companies quite a few times. FF for livestock and Dr. F for dry goods and stuff for my dog. FF had a lot better prices then Dr's. (on livestock) most of the time and very good customer service. I think you will see an increase in prices since Dr's is slowly buying out it's competitors.

I have made several orders from etropicals.com which was bought out as well and I have to say I was really pleased with the quality on the critters I ordered plus if the order was over $60.00 shipping and box was free. They were even cheaper than Dr. F&S LiveAquaria.com. So I am thinking that they my have bought it to distribute their dry good and may leave the Flying fish express to do the live thing which is what the do best. I wonder if FF got into financial trouble or the owners were looking to get out of the biz and took the first opportunity the had. Until I see other wise I am looking at this in a positive manner. Time will tell.

I emailed liveaquaria to see if they would honor my FFE credit, we will see what they say.

Actually it looks as if the Drs will eventually have a divers den, which is good. I'm willing to try them out once I get enough together to order.
