....OR ...are we having fun yet? Tom asked me to post something here.
Begging the board's permission to keep this on GRD for a wee bit
Besides, we had other reef keepers on hand: Digital Dragon and DuncanReefer (Kevin, did I get your name right?). We didn't move the tanks, or LR Rubbermaid® cans, but skimmer after skimmer.....and
stuff!! Just how many skimmers does a person need? I spent time packing what any good librarian should do...Books!
The most fun happened when we arrived at Tom's new house. I got there just after the 24' rental truck, driven by Tom I think and an Rx friend of his. I thought it strange that the truck was parked in wet grass about 150 feet from the house. As I drove closer, I saw that the truck was way stuck in the mud, front wheels mired into the muck of soft earth. (We certainly are making up for drought this winter

)

No way would could that truck be moved! So Tom called Mel (who had the house key), to report that the truck was stuck. While we were standing out in mid-40s drizzle, Tom called a wrecker. To offset the ...um...**-off feeling for the whole situation, we all spent our time making rude comments and generally laughing instead of crying. I even thought I could run home to get my digital camera for the event, but I didn't want to miss anything else. Alice and Doug, does that mean I should get pinched for not taking any pix?
Finally the wrecker came, and it took him a good part of an hour to get the truck freed from the mud. (The truck was at such an odd angle that we were all concerned that the truck would turn over on it's side in the process.) Tom's brother backed the truck up the driveway, and we started unloading. After a while, I heard someone say..."Uh-oh, it hit her car!" So Mel and I ran out there, and found that the truck (in Park, with hand break on) had started rolling down the driveway and bumped my car!!! I sure am glad that I have a Saturn, because though I could see skid marks on the driveway, my car had barely a scratch. Those collapsable fenders work
So things turned out fine, enjoying good teamwork with friends and working through the pains of moving. Their home is beautiful, with one large room dedicated to the tanks and Tom's puter. They are on 10 acres of land and their neighbors are terrific.
And tonight I'll have an adult beverage to relax. Bet everyone else will too.
