Question

teaming with life....but what is it?

ok i'm beginning to fully understand the statement "teaming with life" lol i've discovered new critters todya and no clue what they are.

first of all, i spotted my clear/white flatworm again early this morning. i managed to sna pa few pics, but i'm not too sure on the quality, it was very hard trying to get a good focus on it, since it is transparent. i'll post the pics when i can get to them today.

another life form was discovered as well. these were also on the glass. i noticed about 10o or so. i guess the best way i can describe them would be to call them tan/white "fleas" they are very very very tiny. smaller than a pencil dot. but i could tell they were living creatures. they were "jumping" from one spot on the glass to the next, usually only about a 16th of an inch away. noticed several, all diplaying the same qualities. in some places they are congregating. problably having a meeting about how to destroy my tank or something. it was impossible to get a picture of these.

and yet another life form has just been discovered!! this too was on the glass. these things, as best i can describe are like 20 leg spiders. they resemble an * only with lots my "legs" these too are very small, maybe a 16th of an inch . tan center, and white or clear legs. i zoomed in with the camera, and i could see them better, and count the appendages, but could not get a good pic. cam just kept focusing on the rock in the background. though i did take several, we'll see if any came out. i've spotted about 20 of these on the glass.

any ideas what these two new life forms might be? and are they safe?

little white/tan fleas: copepods

asterisks with legs - jellyfish ( I think )

All safe and signs of a maturing tank.

woohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where'd i get em? from the rock and sand?

or is my tank just filled with primordial ooze instead of saltwater. all these things just keep materializing. maybe theres a starship out there energizing these things into my tank?

i also just discovered about 10 minutes ago....AN EMERALD CRAB! this little bugger just came crawling out of a hole in the rock!! and this guy aint exactly small, he's probably about the size of a nickel!!

oooooh I hope it is an emerald! I had two little stone crabs of some sort that caused havoc in my tank for a while. They kept mowing down Xenia and polyps. I had to trap one, and spear another. Now my corals are much happier.

Have fun with the new tank. I STILL have chapped and caloused knees from kneeling in front of mine all night

lol thanks david. i'm pretty certain it's an emerald, as i have one in my current temp tank, and it looks exactly the same. only smaller.

chapped knees, see ,that's why i made my stand 29" high, so i can sit right in my chair and stare into the tank, mid tank is eye level

here is a picture i snapped of the flatworm. the picso f the jellyfish and copepods didn't even come close to being recognizable. they just look like little grey smudges on the glass.
