Product??? Stop Aptasia
Hey all-
I have a friend that does some side work for a LFS. My friend has a bit of an aptasia problem and the owner of the shop has a lot of 'old school' phylosophies. He told him to use a product called 'Stop Aptasia'. I asked my friend if it was copper based, he doesn't know. I warned him that it may kill or be bad for snails, starfish, corals, bacteria in the sand, etc., and I would help him find some info on it.
That's where you guys come in!!
So who knows the low down on this stuff? Would he be tainting his tank with this? I told him about the kalk paste method and maybe he should just do that. Told him the pros and cons are probably safer than adding a chem. (of course, I ranted about adding a bunch of chems after that) What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!!

Yes the product works
No i dont work for the company (no profit for telling this info)
It does not harm any fish or inverts of anykind
unless you were to stick them with the needle and inject it into them. I have found it works best if you shut down all of the water flow in the tank for about an hour.
Yes peppermint shrimp and copperband butterflies may sometimes work also.
I have used this in many diplay tanks with no problems at all

I vote peppermint shrimp, they have kept me down to one very large (and very pretty) Aptasia. They definitly don't seem to like the big ones but the babies disappear overnight

Hey Trigger, if you still have the bottle, could you list the 'ingredients' of this stuff please?
Anyone else try this stuff or heard anything about it?
Thanks!

It does not list the ingrediants(its not for human consumption, thats the reason it doesnt list them)IT doesnt have to
It states that this product is 100% organic and biodegradable
If you ask me it smells like mexican salsa!
Trust me I do not put anything into my reef tank at all but I will use this stuff

I ave to also chime in with the Peppermint Shrimp version. I used to add all kinds of stuff. Now, next to nothing. I got my first Apps on a zoo rock. My Pepps had them gone brfore night 2 in the tank.
For what its worth!

If I remember correctly, Stop Aptaisia, is pepper extract... Don't get it on your hands and then rub our eyes... lol If anyone has a bottle of it, smell it, does it smell anything like black pepper or tobasco?

I have never used it, but our favorite LFS (who really knows what he is doing) uses it and had had great success with it. It seems to be safe for reefs and other inverts.
