need id help please.

i dont have pictures yet but ill try soon, and ill also try to describe the best i can right now.

ok first one is a starfish(well about 6). biggest one is about the size of a quarter, 4-7 legs, and a whiteish-grey base color and as they get bigger there turning a blueish color. i did a search and didnt find anything on them and was just wondering if anyone has ran into these guys before.

second, a small patch(mabye bout the size of a dime)of what looks like aptaisia, its that nasty brown color and popped up outta nowhere, but heres the catch, there really small and short(they dont even look like they have stalks), and in the actinics they glow green like my moon polyps(but in the daylight they look nothing like the polyps), but when you touch them they kinda suck in.

any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Hmmm...that second one could be the dreaded majano

do a search for majano on this site and you'll find pix...some are mine, some others...

hey marcus,
check out this link to see if this is what you have. if it is, pluck them out of there. they come off the rocks real easy.

ok the starfish look like they could be the kind described in that link(i looked at that link awhile ago but didnt notice the description that included the blueish color, but this time i caught it)

as far as the majano? they are still way to small to really tell but they look close to some of the pics i saw. i just dont know. but i keepin an eye on them.

another question though. if they are majano where the hell did they come from, are they like algae everpresent in the system wating for the right conditions to bloom. i havent put anything new in the tank and there popping up on one of the oldest pieces of rock in the tank. the aiptaisa has been there from the begining but this is the first time ive seen these.

thanks for the help everyone.
