Kalking Aiptasia....

Whan you inject your aips with kalk, do they usually release immediately?

I pretreat all my rocks before they even touch my tank water...its part of my acclimation process (i'm paranoid of being overrun with those darned things)....

all the big ones release immediaely upon being pumped full of kalk paste- the little ones retract as hard as they can so i cover them with a small mound...

just wondering if this is normal cause i have heard of people kalking them and watching them disintegrate or shrivel away to nothing, but nobody has mentioned them coming right off, mine go right into the trash.

I kalk them in the tank, and they don't "fall off" the rock. I also make mounds on top of them when possible. Sometimes they don't come back, and sometimes they do. No matter how well you kalk your rock before putting it in the tank, there may still be aptaisias that you either couldn't reach or couldn't see.

So yours don't fall off.... hmmm.... i also mound over the smaller ones like you mentioned.

Oh, I thought you did it before putting the rock in the water! It's almost impossible to find them on rock that's out of the water.

You're probably getting most of them, then. Do you have peppermint shrimp to get the little ones for you?

i stare at them before (when in the shipping bags full of water) and then kalk them in the bags right when the acclimation and watermixing is complete then after i've kalked all the ones i can see in the bag, i put the new rocks in the tank and continue staring at them over time untill i am sure there aren't any more...

i don't have any pep shrimp so i have to stay on it, so far so good!
