Question

Fish catching suggestions (Ich)

Does anybody know any good ideas of catching fish in a 125 reef with 175 lbs of LR???? I have been trying for the past couple days with no luck. The fish do seem to be coming closer to the net, thinking it's part of their habitat, and was wondering if it would be safe for an extended period of time (3-4 hrs) in the tank since I believe it's a metal handle (cheapy 3$ green net) but did not know if it would rust/polute the water in that amount of time. If anybody has any suggestions as to how to get them out to dip them, please let me know. Else will try the garlic food, bt not sure how much to use, never done it before. Pretty sure I will have to end up giving up as I'm having no luck thus far. Thanks

Catching a fish in a well established tank can really be "fun". I really don't have a good method of catching fish other than to try and corner the fish and using 2 nets. Maybe with the help of a friend could add to the burden. On the positive note. You won't be the only one frustrated Most nets do rust and of course you have to be careful of just that.

What kind of fish has the ailment? Soom fish hide at night and some just hovers around the tank. Depending on what type of fish it is, you may want to wait till the light has been off for several hours. Good luck

This works for me. Turn all the lights off, wait about an hour. Get a bright flashlight, a friend to aim the light, a dowel, and net. While one holds the light on the fish, very slowly and carefully herd him into the net with the dowel. If it doesn't work the first time, wait a little bit and try again.
Good luck

Luckily for me 4 fish so far have contracted the ich. My Blue Angelfish, Rock Beauty, Brown Scopas (once I catch him I am moving him to my 55), and my Clown Tang (thinking about selling him, growing way to fast). The worst is the Blue, having it on portions of all of his body. Doesn't seem to be affecting him as of this moment, but afraid it might. I have had plenty of fish contract it, and go through the stages with it, and come out without any problems. My Purple Tang was probably 90% covered in white spots, and it went away without any treatment and has yet to return. I just worry that since this is an Angel, and they seem to be alot touchier when it comes to just about anything that it might result in severe injury/death. I am going to start feeding the tank with garlic laced food, or even small pieces of garlic per Dark Horge. Just wondering how much I should use/what steps to take. Also read on a post somewhere on here that you don't have to buy the special garlic sups that they sell at the LPS, but can use garlic sups found at Drugtown/Walmart?? Is this true as I don't want to worsen the condition of my fish?
