Bumblebee a Danger?

Are bumblebee snails a hazardous to my star polyps? Noticed one on the colony the other night and now it looks as if it may have been dinning.

Hmmm, I seem to recall a rather controversial thread on this very topic on another forum.

I *think* the general consensus was that bumblebees are not reef safe, although there were several people that posted that had them, and had not had a problem.

I'm just going from memory here...

Mad,
Are you feeding your tank? The only reason I ask is Bumble Bee's will eat meat, and if you arent feeding the tank enough to sustain them they will find other food sources. Often times I have seen that the main people whao have bumble bees and are having problems usually are people who have lots of coral and hardly any fish....Hence just not enough food being added so they eat anything they can to survive.
Just my observation I hope this is of some help to you,
Renae

Feed the tank with several meat products and marine snow. But still concerned.

I have some in my nano for quite some time; haven't seen them bother anything. There was a thread a while back on another board about bumblebees preying on other snails but if I remember rightly only one or two people responded that they had seen this occur, everyone else responding said they had had no problems.

Like someone mentioned, I had problems with bumblebees back when I wasn't feeding the tank very much. I fall into the category of Few fish, Many corals.
One night, I had a massive disappearance of button polyps, and saw a bumblebee on the colony earlier that afternoon.
No other problems for a few weeks, then saw 3 of them PULLING a live turbo from it's shell, so I started feeding the tank a bot more often, and haven't had problems since.
Opportunistic if Need be, but generally safe otherwise is my experience.
