Twins Guy's not-so-nano

I wanted to post some early pics of the new system i'll be setting up within the next week. Still have some finish work to do on the stand. The tank itself is an artifact of my days at a LFS. It was custom ordered by a customer but a miscalculation meant it was a hair too large for its intended home. So i got a deal...it's 30"x18" x13" with a volume right about 30 gallons. In the picture you can see that the tank is drilled and plumbed on center with an overflow box and modified durso drain pipe. A mag 7 will return water to the rear corner outlet tubes via a SCWD. I estimate approximately 400 gph of flow thru the sump. A couple of Maxijet 900s (to be mounted adjacent to the overflow box) will be alternated on a Tsunami Jr and will supply another 230 gph of flow to the tank. The tank will be lit by a PFO pendant with a 1x175W 10K Ushio and 2 x 28W PC actinics. This should provide sufficient intensity for some SPS with softies, especially zooanthids filling in the less brightly illuminated periphery.

A shot of the beautiful sump from Reefmania-Thanks Greg! water enters the sump (18" x18" x14" high) at the rear left. A float valve is positioned along the back wall of the tank adjacent to that enclosed bubble trap/muffler. Water flows toward the front of the sump past the Euro-Reef ES5-3 and Ebo Jager 150W heater. The calcium reactor (MyReef Dual Nano and Blueline CO2 reg) feed pump (a minjet 606) and effluent line will also be located on this "side" of the sump. After turning the corner water will pass the Aquacontroller probe holder. Finally water passes thru a series of baffles (over, under, over) and two aquaclear 300 sponges to trap microbubbles. The mag 7 is situated in the back right compartment and returns water via the SCWD to the main tank. The crooked piece of 1/8" acrylic on the sump's floor is used to level the protein skimmer (whose base is offset from the pumps-silly if you ask me ).

mnreefgeek-thanks n let me know if you're still wanting to try some cyclopeeeeeeeze

mandy-the tank was a custom job for a customer-they'll build anything you want-but he was unhappy (too big) so i wound up with a cool tank! and for the record-the name change bit was all about motivating the squad

UPDATE 9/24/03!

here's a shot of the LR curing bin->
32 gallon rubbermaid rubbish container
plastic milkcrate in the bottom to support skimmer while allowing curing space beneath. i also placed a heater between the can wall and the milkcrate which should protect it from tubbling rockage. i think it works pretty nifty-my girlfriend is gonna be totally glad to see this go in a month or so...so if you need a LR curing bin/milkcrate let me know you supply the skimmer, powerheads and heater

in this shot assuming you have night vision/inordinate numbers of rods on your retina you can see the milkcrate-the MVP of this setup! and some of the rock.
