Question

tank specs and adv

hi all...

my wife and i bought a small (20gal) tank just recently (feb2002)...according to our lfs,all we needed is 20lbs of live rock (type unknown) and 20lb live sand (about 2in substrate) to start out. In one week, did our parameter test and everything was well within standards. We add 2 Percula clowns...well in 2 days, one past away, although the other is doing okay...

the only equipment we have is a rio600 pump...

my question is: do I need to invest in a wet/dry filter and/or a protein skimmer? We just want a small system with 2-3 fishes and some inverts (corals or otherwise)... also is my water pump too strong for the tank?

tested again after the fish past away, so far everything is good..

thanks!!

You dont need a wet/dry it does the same thing your live rock does, but I would invest in a decent protein skimmer, like a CPR backpack, the skimmer takes out a lot of stuff you cant see, that is harmfull to the animals in the system.....also change about 10 percent of your water every 2 weeks or 25% a month, its better to do smaller changes more often....
