I have an established
65 gallon which after a disaster back in january (due to siphon overflow failure while away for holidays, have since drilled the back of tank) i am ready to restock. Shooting for reef tank w/softies. What i have remaining from the crash is 2 peppermints shrimp, 5 hermits, 1 turbo snail, 5 astreas, some zoo's.
the set-up is 65 g w/20 gal sump, skimmer, enough lighting for softies but not enough for stony corals. about 80 lb live rock, ssb of about 1/2 inch, water parameters in good shape.
I have two alternate
stock scenarios
1. moderately aggresive:2 maroon clowns, either a fridmani pseudo or swissguard basslet, 1 lubbock's wrasse, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 longnose hawkfish
2. more peaceful: 2 false percula, 1 royal gramma, 1 6 line wrasse, 1 lawnmmower blenny
In both cases shooting for low-maintenance, hardy fish.
Anyone got any thoughts, see any contraindications, had any experience with either of the above?
I went about two months without a water change, which i usually do 5% each week when my tank is stocked, and noticed that the ssb sand had become clumped together, in the moderately agressive scenario what would be a good invert to stir up and eat detritus from sand;was thinking sand sifting star but would imagine it to not be enough sand for him;with weekly maintenance would anything be neccessary for an ssb?
