My Reef
This is my 37gal its 30"W12"D22"T. Using a Aqua C PS with maxi 1200, 2 #2 Koralia, a Current 2-65w dual actinic dual daylight, 45# LR, 3.5" LS. Have a Six line wrasse, scooterblenny, cinnamon clown, and a coral beauty for fish youngest to oldest. My tanks been going since around Oct of 08. I have had another tank that was 29 gal but swiched everything to this one when I moved, my uncle gave me this one wich had a lot nicer stand. I have had good luck with all my corals but my xenia were splitting like crazy until they starting dying I think they got to close to my hammer coral. But anyways here are some pics. Would'nt let me post pics yet.

2nd reef tobe
I saw a tank setting at a garage sale in my neghborhood on my home form work could'nt pass it up $40. It's 36"by12"by19.5" so its 35gal with a nice stand. I have about 3" sand and crushed coral going for 4" got like 10lb LR from LFS. I found 3 huge boulders at a jobsite. They are full caves and holes they look perfect. Havent seen any that look like it before cant post pic of them. I tried a piece of one to see how it takes after washing it and soaking it with water only. I want to get T5 lighting but still just looking and using 2 13w for now gonna probably get another aqua C using a cheap intank skimmer but it works for now and 2 #1 koralia. Dont know what ill put in for corals or fish been looking at other tanks for a idea but not shure. Going for about 3 months lots of diatoms got a few margarita snails and added some mushrooms from my other tank and was given a bunch of chetomorpha.

Be careful with rocks from a jobsite, it is hard telling what they contain

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Testing a piece first
They were setting in their flowerbed for a couple of years and I am trying a piece thats as big as my hand first but it looks like some rock my friend got from the beach in North Carolina full of holes but mine looks fossislized and stained with red dirt. Their is only a couple of snails in their anyways so no big loss if something goes wrong.
Thanks for all the concern.

The snails will tell you if there are heavy metals in there (by dying). THe other concern is that they have become loaded with phosphates. If this is the case you will have a hard time battling algae. The fact that it was in a flower bed make phospohates pretty likely. How heavy is it? The denser it is the poorer of a filter it will make. Best of luck

40lbs
Its roughly 18' wide 12' tall 10' deep and weights about 40lb. If I keep soaking it in a tupperware and rinse it for a week think it will get rid of phosphate. The house has been vacant for 2 years they were out in the rain. Hope they work b/c LR is way to expensive but if I have to i'll buy more.

Why not make you own live rock...creat rock in the shape that you desire. Let it cure buy a piece of lr from lfs to seed it or get some live sand for a local reefer or ask to buy some out of the lfs display reef.

better yet I used some commercially available "plastic" reef rock replicas shaped like an arch, built a cave like structure, glued on coral frags, let it encrust and it is now indistinguishable from live rock and eco-friendly.
Already had enough live rock in reef for biologic filtration
