Paint it black using Krylon flat. Everything pops with black. Make sure you tape off and cover everything that you don't want painted. Plan on giving it several thin coats to cover.

Having been through this process twice now of setting up new tanks, I am certainly no professional. But, here are my learned opinions:

1. Find a local source for cooked rock. Basically, this means that the rock has been rid of all the nasty stuff, but the beneficial bacteria is still intact. If you find a local source, it'll probably be cheaper than the cured rock you would get at the lfs.

2. Decide on what kind of corals you want. That will help you decide on the type of lighting to get. For instance, I have a 2 bulb T5, so I won't be able to keep sps. That's okay, I am more into zoas and softies, anyway.

3. I built a stand, for lack of a better term, out of pvc pipe and eggcrate for my rocks to sit on. My lfs, whom I feel is quite knowledgeable, does this, and if you position a powerhead down below, it will keep flow moving through, which is good to keep the nasties out.

4. Although it's not the prettiest to see, I would suggest using cable ties to tie your rock together to make a secure bond.

I know I didn't give you any ideas on aquascaping, but maybe you can use some of these in your own setup. When I set up my second tank, I looked at a lot of pictures on TRT to help me decide on how to piece the rocks together.

Have you painted, yet? Are you happy with how it looks? I love how mine turned out.

Start to finish? If by finish you mean stop spending money you will never finish!

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
