My first tank! 29g Biocube!!

Hey all!


Well, I just LOVE my new tank. It's a biocube 29g with 27lbs of liverock, livesand, and I now have some coral, 2 frogspawn (not sure about spelling there), a flower pot, and the following fish:

2 small clown - false peruculas
1 - royal gramma (sp?)
1- blue tang (I do know I will have to hand him off someday unless I get a bigger tank sometime)
2 - starfish
1 - red/white striped shrimp
1 - Banghaii cardinal

So far so good! I love love love my tank!!!! Can't believe I waited this long to get one

I am curious to have more info on filtration (if the one if the biocube is good or if doing something different is better)?
And lighting - the current hood for the biocube occasionally makes loud noises so I am wondering if a different lighting system would be good??? Any suggestions? I am a complete newbie to all of this

Looks forward to pics. Not sure about the filtration in those systems, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Or when you take pictures, capture that and the lighting as well and maybe I'll have some ideas.

The only thing you're likely to often hear about is the tang... many folks feel that they are such aggressive swimmers that they shouldnt ever be housed in a tank with those dimensions, regardless of their size. It'd probably be in the fish's best interest to find it a new home sooner rather than later, but of course that's up to you.

I am assuming that it has a sponge pre-filter and bio-balls in the back along with a bag of carbon, as most of the nano tanks come like that. Is that the case with this one?

When the lights come on a fan should be coming on at the same time. I would check to see it the fan is rubbing against anything or that the hood is fully seated on the system. That could help resolve the noise issue. The ballast should not be making any noise at all for the lights.

How long have you had this system?
