My 312 Gallon Reef Tank (Specs.)

Hello Everyone,
My name is Bryant and I am new to "The Reef Tank" forum. I am in the process of setting up my first reef tank. Below are the specs of the equipment which I already have and the additional equipment which I am planning to use to finish my my first reef tank.

Stand and Canopy -
I have my own woodworking shop so I am building the tank stand and light canopy myself. The stand is way overbuilt but I didn't want it to come crashing down. I actually used 4" X 6" treated timbers for my support structures along with 2" X 8" treated lumber for the support joist. Everything is glued and lag-bolted together for extra strength. I then wrapped the entire cabinet in 3/4" MDF and then covered the MDF with another layer of 3/4" quarter-sewn oak. I am then going to build all of my raised panel doors, trim and crown mold out of the same oak. I will then use an analyne dye to dye the oak and then spray it with many coats of lacquear for water resistence. Here are some pictures of the stand in progress.

Tanks Specs. -
My tank is a 312 gallon glass tank which I had custom built. The measurements of the tank are 96" long X 30" wide X 25" tall. The tank has 3 overflows built in the back, one overflow is in each back corner and the other one is in the center of the back panel.

I will try to get some photos of the tank made and posted this week. I have it in storage right now because I am remodeling the whole room before I set my tanks up in that room.

Filtration System -
My filtration will include a custom built Lifereef Berlin style sump and and Protein skimmer along with 500 pounds of live rock and a 2" deep live sand bed. The specs for the filtration system are as follows:
Lifereef Sump: 48" long X 18" wide X 18" tall
Lifereef Protein Skimmer: 6" diameter X 30" tall
Return Pump: Iwaki (MD-70RLT)
Protein Skimmer Pump: Little Giant (3-MDQX-SC)

Here are some pictures of these items.

The other equipment which will be used but not yet purchased are as follows:

Lighting -
(4) PFO 400watt 20K Metal Halide Retro Kit
(2) PFO 4 Bulb VHO Retro Kits with (4) URI 46in - 110 watt Actinic Blue - VHO bulbs and (4) URI 46in - 110 watt Actinic Blue - VHO bulbs. There will also be (3) 24" Lunar Blue Moon Glow LED Fixtures w/ Two 1 Watt LEDs per Fixture.

This system will be set up on a "Dawn to Dusk" with the moonlights coming on at "Dusk" to provide a moonlight effect while the main lights are off.

Heating -
(4) 250 Watt Via Aqua Titanium Heaters

Cooling -
(1) Pacific Coast 1/2 HP Inline Chiller
(6) 4" Ice Cap Variable Speed Fans

Circulation -
(4) Seio M820 Super Flow Pumps (820 gph each)
(1) SCWD Wavemaker plumbed in a T-shape with PVC and a homemade spray bar at the end of each side to sweep the top of the sand and underneath the rock.

RO/DI Unit -
5 Stage 100GPD RO/DI Unit with a 200GPD (2x 100GPD) upgrade and an inline TDS monitor with digital readout.

Rock/Substrate -
(5) 50# Boxes of Premium grade live rock from Reefer Rocks
(4) 60# Boxes of Hirocks best baserock
(5) 30# Bags of CaribSea Aragamax Grand Bahama Reef Sand
(5) 30# Bags of CaribSea Aragamax Sugar-Sized Reef Sand

I have done much research on this equipment and set up I have chosen but there is nothing like personal experience so if anyone has any suggestions of chabges I should make to improve this set up, please let me know.

Thanks,
Bryant
