I have a 72-Bow Front AGA
I use a Fluval 404 Canister to siphon & clean at about 320 GPH. I also have an overflow box which feeds to a 10-gallon make-shift sump underneath my aquarium. This 10-gallon provides water which is passed through a Sea Storm 100 and an AquaC EV-150
Protein Skimmer (Bacterial bed Sea Storm rated for 100 Gallon and Skimmer rated for 150, obviously). Water is siphoned out of this sump through my Fluval 304 (Its $130 I have to use it) - it should be siphoning at 250 GPH or so but I believe it to be more like 150.
The Fluval 404 sends water from left to right with strong force, and the 304 drops water from right to left with low force. The overflow box is on the left side in order to grab the oldest water. 2 RIO 800's reside at the bottom center of my aquarium hidden by rock, throwing strong force from the center of the tank outwards to each side.
As of todays date I have around 30 pounds of live rock - maybe slightly more.
Leather coral, mushrooms, a sea bed, and button polyp coral all seem to be thriving well despite my flourescent lighting: 2 100% Actinic 48-inch 40-watt bulbs and 2 10000K Super Daylights of the same size/ strength. Will move to halide when I find a way to make the fixtures myself.
AN Imperial Angel, Flame Angel, Purple Tang, Achilles Tang, 2 small damsels, and a baby lionfish all do very well with each other, with slight commotion between the Tangs. A Mandarin also swims around with all of my blue hermits, but I doubt I can keep the cutie alive.
The tank is about 4 months old, and has yet to kill anything off. All new entries acclimate within 2-3 hours and mix with the other fish quickly.
Im babbling. As you can see I love my fishtank.
