$300 @ $.035/kwhr (I know this because I live in the area and looked at my bill). Imagine the cost in California

It's like the great barrier reef, except in a garage.

yep.. and ^
man.. it that we're me I would have stuck the tank 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the wall, so you can see the sides a bit.. seems like your view would be a bit limited only having that one face.. also it needs a couch in front for serious lounging + viewing. it's still just freaking awesome.. the channel with the sandy bottom is a lot like the sections of reef I saw in belize snorkeling off of Ranguana Caye..

Thanks all...I'm glad that you liked the site. A few comments though....
1) the monthly power bill runs around $350...which also includes running my 150gal cold water reef. Power up here is mostly cheap hydro and costs about 5 cents per KWhr.
2) A half in half out of wall tank would not be appropriate for the following reasons...
a) It would dominate an otherwise small den
b) lighting would now be in the viewing room instead of isolated to the garage
c) the aquascaping would be forced away from the sandy canyon look
d) the picture on the wall look would be lost
e) maintenance would have to be performed from the front as well....resulting in water damage to imported wool rugs and teak hardwoods.
f) the in room lighting would heat the viewing room and create light pollution
g) the tank would no longer be silent in the viewing room
h) the set up would no longer meet building codes by violating a 2hr fire wall between living space and the garage.
i) humidity would now have to be dealt with in the house as well as in the garage.
j) I really don't care too much about seeing the sides.....the original concept was to have an unusually long center canyon. Instead of having some shadow box or dark paint job on the rear wall to create the illusion of depth....I just added real depth.....and I can't stress enough the convienence of having the complete operation isolated in the garage. I can make as much of a mess as I want in the garage and not worry about ruining anything.... I wouldn't have it any other way.
