My system will be up for 9 years on 11/1/02.I combined two 75 gallon reefs I was running originally into one 6ft.220 gallon Perfecto aquarium in June of '97.My current reef is a 'modified Berlin' which simply means in addition to having strong lighting, skimming, and replenishing trace elements-I also have a
deep sand bed and algae refugium/scrubber.I run 4 VHO lamps plus 3 MH :2 @ 250watts plus 1 @ 400watts.I do have a chiller on this system.I do not know how many pounds of liverock are in it exactly- but I believe it to be around 200 lbs. There is a cinder-block framework to which liverock was cemented using 'Thorite'marine cement. The rock is from many different sources, and this helps to promote biodiversity. The reef contains many fishes and invertebrates, and can be seen on my website 'Gary's Reef'.I strongly support mariculture,as most of my corals are captive-raised,and I do sell 'frags'of colonies if interested.
