First Reef tank
Alright, I am tired of the boring freshwater stuff and my son has decided he needs to "find nemo".
So I have started a reef tank. I have built the cabinet, bought a 125 gallon tank and refugium. Here is what I have so far.
So here are a few questions
How much damage is the refugium going to do to the wood of the cabinet? Should I use some water seal on the inside? How much power will the system use?
Thanks for helping
I will continue to add pics as I build

After the minor flood I just had yesterday, I'd recommend treating the wood on the floor of the cabinet if it's not already. Nice looking sump you have, by the way
How long do you think it will be until you add water?

I also think you should treat the wood and for the amount of electricity you'll use it depends on pumps heaters and lights(but I'd say have at least to 20 amp circuits).

 Welcome to TRT!!!
That is going to be one nice looking setup. Just remember to take your time with it and research before you buy.

Ready I think
After much problem solving I think I am finally ready for water and live rock.
I have a question though. What does "live rock" live on. It doesn't need lighting and it only needs a skimmer, so what sustains it?

The actual rock itself is not alive, but all the organisms and goodys leaving within the rock. Its, sustaind through the nutrients in your water, That is why it becomes a "natural filtration system". If your starting with your tank and rock only run the skimmer and let the rock "cook" it will go through a cylcle which you can monitor through water testing. Do not add any livestock untill this cycle is complete.

Looks nice! When you say its loud are you referring to the overflow or the sump noise??

Update
Apparently 87 degrees is too warm for snails so I will be installing a chiller today. I built a "gurgler" to keep the drain noise down and that seemed to work.

Did you make the sump yourself or is it something that you purchased? Set up looks great.
