I got the sump this weekend. It's just a 100g rubbermaid stock tank
Got ot 70% filled. Going to make SW tonnight and start the sump plumbing....

All the equipment is inplace I just need to start putting it together....

Hopefully I can get the tank in the house this week and start to fill it.
I plan to fill the tank 1/2 way and use the water in my current 75 and sump.

Sand question.....

I want about 2" of sand in the tank. I'm going to use Carib-Sea reef floor special.
Anyone know how much sand I will need.

I think on average it's like 1lb/gal or two for a shallow bed.

Actually I called CAribsea and they said that about #100 would do. Which is much better than what the LFS said which was #200

Ordered #120 of Caribsea special grade reef floor aragonite. Should have that today as well as a few nice peices of dried out LR.

I plan to finish the stand this week/weekend and get the tank in and start filling it...

OK been quiet for a while. We had guests for turkey day and the sump is in the guest room. I wanted to wait till after they were gone to get things going. I have worked on other things. I have the top ceiling boxed drywalled and painted. The stand is done. I will finish it after the tank is set. I want to be able to shim the tank as I fil it.
I also built the overflow. I CNC machines the from with the teeth and used weldon to glue it all up. I had some smoke acrylic laying around so I used it and I will just use black fusion on it. I also started plumbing. I have the CLS drain plumed and the 4 1" 90deg in for the CLS. I set the tank on the stand backwads so I could work in the plumbing. Here are a few pics. I hope to start filling tomorrow.....

The overflow is 18" wide 5" deep and 8" tall:

Some more pics...

The overflow mounted:

OM CLS plumbing (one side)
(Nothing glued here so I can move flow after sand and the tank is filled)

Plumbing from the back(side)
I made a modified durso for the overflow, I need to install the stand pipe/cap

I'm thinking about letting this thread die.
It's nice to have a "diary" of my build but it seems to be just wasting space on TRT....
