Hi everyone. I'm a longtime reefer and very active on a local reefing forum, but this is my first post on this forum. A little about myself: I'm a recent graduate from Texas A&M Galveston and I received my Bachelor's of Science in Marine Biology. I have had an aquarium of some sort for most of my life, but I started getting into saltwater about 3 years ago. Prior to that, I researched my butt off looking for the proper way to do things as well as what purchases to avoid. Now, I have three saltwater tanks...a 90 gallon SPS/Clam tank, 24 gallon "high end" Nano Cube, and a 20 gallon FOWLR which basically boiled down to stuff I didn't want in my reef. Needless to say, the 20 gets neglected. The other two tanks are my babies, and I'd like to share my 90 gallon with you for the moment.
The tank is an Oceanic 90RR aquarium with a 36" refugium below. I have an Octopus DNW-150 recirculating protein skimmer, a PM RFCa4 calcium reactor, 48" 8 bulb Current USA T5HO light fixture, two of the new controllable Hydor Koralia #4s, and one regular Koralia #3. For a return pump I use a cheap but reliable Quiet One 3000. The tank has a fairly deep sand bed and lots of live rock. The refugium is full of sand, rock, and grape caulerpa.
As for fish, I have:
-one Sailfin Tang
-one Ocellaris (False Percula) Clownfish
-one Royal Gramma Basslet
-one
Yellow Watchman Goby
-three
Green Reef Chromis
-two Pajama Cardinals
-one Gold Sided Fairy Wrasse
-one Yellow-tail Damsel (never could catch him out of there)
Inverts:
-three T. crocea clams
-one T. maxima clam
-one T. derasa clam
-large breeding population of Project DIBS Columbellid snails
-decent sized breeding population of Project DIBS Turbo snails
-one RBTA
-two GBTAs
-the standard cleanup crew (snails, hermits, sea cucumber, stars, etc.)
Corals:
-lots of SPS
-some LPS
-some zoas...but no other softies like mushrooms, leathers, or anything like that
Pics:
Skimmer during break in period...that's why it's skimming super wet.
