Here we go. I'm really new at this. I have always stood in awe of these magnificent aquariums and always wanted one. Thought that what I was in awe of was a saltwater tank but found out it is really a reef tank.
I would really like to convert my saltwater tank to a reef tank but I'm really really new at this and would love some input. Have read some books but that only resulted in killing off my first batch of fish (about $400 worth). This is my second go of it in the past year and this is what I have so far...
Tank Specs:
45 gal high,
1 30 Watt
Actinic light,
Millenium 255 USgph wet-dry multifilter (with biochem filters)
2 160 USgph maxijet powerheads connected tray under substrate
3 inches substrate - curshed coral
2 heaters (one set at 0.5 degrees lower than the other in case one fails)
Several plastic versions of various macroalgae species.
Large piece of dead coral.
Fish:
2 Regal Tangs (very young each about 1 inch)
2 Royal Gramma
2
Blue Damsels
1 Sargent Major Damsel
1 Flame Angel
6 Turbo Snails
I just ordered the Macroalgae 6 pack special from Indo Pacific Farms to replace my fakes with real species. I'm hopin this was a good move and would like to know how to proceed next.
