70g Oceanic Tech Tank - Office Build
This is my second tank, my first was a 2 1/2 year old Oceanic 30g cube. It really got me involved into the hobby and I hope that this build will be done with all the lessons I learned from my first one.
Equipment:
70g Tech Oceanic Tank
Octopus Extreme Model 160 Skimmer (Pre-Ordered, should be in the end of the month)
Octopus Single Chamber CA Reactor
Emperor Aquatics 18W SmartUV
2x Phosban Reactors (Chemi-Pure Elite & Purigen)
CurrentUSA Outer Orbit 2x250W w/4x T5 36"
30g Sump
CurrentUSA Prime 1/10hp chiller
Eheim 1262 Return
Jager Heater 150w (Plan on getting another as backup)
Vortech for flow
I have attached pictures of my plumbing and set. The plumbing in the picture goes from the 1262 to the UV then to the two Phosban reactors. The system is setup to also feed the CA reactor and my chiller, but I haven't plumbed them, I just have caps on the PVC.
My goal is to have the 1262 pump pretty much running the whole show since it has way more flow than I need in my return. Opinions and comments welcome!

That's it, I need an office for another tank. Looks like a fun project, what do you plan on keeping in it?

Mainly SPS, I am transferring my 30g to the 70. I am excited to see how much faster growth will be with a CA reactor. I dosed A/B prior, but I didn't does as often as I should have.
I would pretty much love to do exactly like how you did your tank

I loved the ease of my calcium reactor after I got it broken in. BUT, I got a dual stage reactor for my (at the time) 58 gallon tank, and it was really easy to OD on alkalinity. Yours probably is better suited for a smaller tank, but I bought mine with an upgrade in mind, and it was way overkill. Just make sure to test your water a few times a week for the first month or two of operation to know what's going on and get things dialed in.
Otherwise, let me know when you need a bunch of frags. We'll can try to make it a half scale replica.

Very nice looking setup. Very clean looking plumbing for the sump area as well. I will be looking forward to updates on your progress.

Thanx guys its been a very hectic time at work so I haven't gotten much more done. The UV system had a small leak in the joint so I am returning that tomorrow along with picking up my CA reactor and live rock. I added sand today and the flow seems just right, all the large particles from the sand became airborne and were filtered out.
crvz: Where do you live? I have a bunch of frags I can trade you from my 30g you might be interested in. A blue tort and a sunset monti are my most interesting.

I'm just down the street... if you call I-10 a street and 850 miles "just down." I'm in Houston. I've been shipping stuff with pretty good success, though. I may have to take you up on some of that. Particularly if you've got some LPS of intrigue... shoot me a PM sometime.
And the tank is looking good!

Added 20lbs of live rock just to get the cycle going. I also picked up my CA Reactor and got a replacement UV because my previous one had a leak. Next challenge will be hooking up the CA reactor. It is an Octopus 140.
The flow is perfect because as I put the rock in, all of the excess particles were blown of and into the column. I am going to wait to turn on the UV and phosban reactors until the cycle has completed.

Well I have successfully moved my tank from Orlando, FL to Jacksonville, FL (30g --> 70g). I would have liked to wait a little longer but I needed to get in front of hurricane Faye so I really had no option.
Everything is settling in quite well, I don't seem to have lost a single coral and the only "frags" I created were out of my orange digita.. but that thing grows pretty well.

I can't put my arm in the tank without breaking a digitata somehow, so that's no surprise. good work on the transition!

I still need to move everything around, but this will work until everything is happy and ready to be stirred up again. Going to try and get all of my zoos and soft corals on the bottom and the acros up top.
I am afraid 250W might be a little too much for those zoos up top.

Updated pics, and good news, hurricane Faye was a bust just a lot of rain and some power flickers.
Only items left to set are the chiller, been running at around 83deg right now with MH on for 5 hrs, and the CA reactor.
