Red, green, brown, you name it, it is all part of the cycle. The hardest thing is to sit and ignore it, but you gotta do it!!!!! Bout killed me when my tank cycled, you want to get in there and rip and snort and tear, but don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the same way I cycled mine, just without the fish. I put in a Red Sea purple tang at about 4 weeks, and he took care of the rest of the green stringy hair algae I had. I don't know if this is acceptable to everybody, but he's still in there. Watching him eat the hair algae like a kid eats spaghetti was more fun than a mere human being should be allowed to have.

I think I need a chiller who do youall recommend....The wife turned the air down last night and this morning the temp was 81.8 do most of you use chillers????I think its going to be a must coming into winter when the heat is on in the house...also we have 4 fans on it now???the tank is located in the basement and it usually stays 67 or so degrees down there in the summer??? what should I do?

these are supposed to be really nice chillers:

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...ne.asp?CartId=

for a tank that size with halide lights, you'll likely need a 1/3 or 1/2hp chiller.. something with some muscle.. I just bought the 1/5hp one for my 85... I am getting it on Tuesday.. How hot does your tank get at the end of it's "lights on" cycle?

EDIT: looks like 1/3hp for your tank size

well when its hot outside and the air is on alot its very cold downstairs with 3 fans on it gets 81.o at the end of the cycle....when she dosent turn the air on its 82....keep in mind this is in the basement where its cold anyway...im afraid this winter when the heats on its going to be mid 80's so Im realizing a chiller is needed soon....
