Hi, Thanks for the welcome!
I guess the 200 gallon was a bit misleading. That was the actual model, "200 gallon wet/dry by Pro Clear". The sump only actually holds 19 gallons. SO SORRY!
GOOD EYE with the inadequate lighting!! Yes I actually have a post right now under "Reefing Equipment" asking for advice on power compact lighting. This tank is not up and running yet, and it will be a MOWLR. Mabye some low light polyps or what ever comes on my rock.
I have a 72 gallon bowfront that will be my reef tank w/ 2 250 watt MH like yourself. But I would like more info on what type of lighting to accent it with...I have read some negatives on VHO's. Since that is what you use, any advice on the pros and cons? THANKS for listening.

VHO's or PC would definitly be fine.
\For the 200 gallon tank...
Probably best to get VHO...they'll span the whole length of the tank.....plus probably a better bulb and light.
Four VHO's should be plenty. 6 would be ideal.
As for the 72 gal bow...I'd supplement w/ VHO....they are easier to work w/ and seem to be a nicer light output than PC. I had 520w PC before my MH days!

Thank you for your advice...especially since you've had experience with both PC & VHO.

Well since you mention it...I do have a question...since our tanks are close in size.
Bear in mind that I dont have a built in overflow, I have a hang on overflow w/ my trickle filter.
My first pump did about 900 GPH and I plumbed it with 3/4 inch PVC for my tank return.
Now that I am setting it back up I bought a new pump at about 1300 GPH. Is there going to be a huge difference if this time I plumb with 1 inch PVC instead? Do you think my overflow will be able to handle it? What size is your plumbing and PVC?

The PVC may handle it but the overflow itself may not. I'd look at getting one that for sure will handle that much flow or just get another and have two overflows dumping into your sump. It may be better to have two for more surface pickup area as well!

OK, here goes a couple more.
I just read that you should not "hard plumb" a tank return cuz it makes the pump work too hard...that you should use nylon or flexible PVC. What is your opinion? It also said that with a hang-over-the -tank overflow box you should only turn over the water in the tank a max of 5 times per hour. So does that mean with 2 overflows I should be okay with the same trickle filter?
As for your previous advice...I DO HAVE a couple of extra overflow boxes laying around...but my sump only has the openings for one. So how do I conect the 2nd over flow to my sump? Will I have to drill the holes and plumb it myself? (stupid question?)

As far as hard vs flexible......
Only issue I see w/ hard is the 90* add resistance to a pump(increase head pressure), while w/ flex you can have large radiuses. Otherwise 1" ID hose or 1" PVC should really flow the same.
I would just use whatever makes sense and keep the 90* to a minimum. Does this make sense.

You will want to drill a hole into the lid or where ever the current line drains. You could use a bulkhead an add a hose barb fitting or a slip fitting if you are going to use hard line.
