Can't help you estimate expenses (I'd go with Casey on that one, being closer geographically), but we also run 3 250W MH on a 6' tank, and I agree that 250s are definitely the better choice.

We don't run a chiller either - just have 2 4" radio shack fans mounted in the canopy. It's amazing how much heat such little fans will dissipate.

Good luck,
Danielle

good to hear about the chiller and cost of electric, the lfs don't sell any mh's they have all told me they would have to order and then they all have told me with out a question you will need a chiller!!!.
I will start to try and lower my temp with the lighting I have now and see how low I can get the temp, I just don't want to go and get the lighting and then not have the money for the chiller.

Im thinking of getting the Hamilton plug and play because the spot I have the tank in is a room divider and right now my kids could touch the mh's, I figure if I go with the all inclosed system I hope to not have a prob with the kids as well as the heat.
I would like to know if any one has used the hamilton and what their experience with the unit has been.
thank you all for the feed back

Hmmm. In central FL there is no way I can run MH's without a chiller. I tried everything to avoid it....
