I think most people with MH and VHO or PC tend to run the MH about 8-9 hrs a day and let the others start before and run on after for a lighting period of about 12 hrs.
On my VHO only the actinics come on an hour before the day lights and go off an hour before the actinics, so the actinic runs 12 the day lights run 10, when I add MH they will come on an hour after the daylight( the first one) then the second will come on an hour after that, with the timers set to give 8 hrs per MH bulb

Microwave Halides! No wonder so many people have trouble with tank temps.

You have to set them on defrost, not cook

Well that is almost exactly what I have them set at.
But I have noticed an increase in green algea and thought that I might be keeping them on a little long. 8hrs
But I've only had the MH running for a week now tank must need a little time to adjust.
Thanks for the info.

Do you have a good clean up crew in there? It's better to stay ahead of it.

Do you have any corals yet and did you slowly ramp up the time on the MH so the corals would get used/acclimated to the new light?

I try to avoid putting shrimp or snails in the microwave, they always end up too tough...
