FYI Lights of America

logged on the the lights of america site and asked tech support what the color temp is for the 9266 floodlight... Got an E-mail back tonight when I got home from work stating it was 6500 K. Kinda gets the wheels spinning when thinking about a possible light source.. Sorry Doug can't put them on the Harley checked of the cost of enough loc-tite and it would be cost prohibitive...

maybe if I got a whole bunch of those little generators that we used to have on our bicycles a long time ago wired them in series and attached the light to a helmet or hard hat.. Kinda like a spelunker... But I would probably get pulled over for looking stupid..

Now thats a funny visual, no worse than some of stuff I see. Hey a bikes a bike , you ride for the pleasure but spare me some leather decked dude on a honda Rebel. I would rather look at your tank
BTW thats the same light I got and the original packaging last year stated 6500K on it. Nice value

The LOA lights are okay for softies etc. Because of the way the light sits for a tank or even a refugium.... I have been told you need to drill a hole or two on the back casing to let heat escape or they burn up the ballast quickly.

I used those at the beginning for my tank..... 5 of them to be exact. They were fine for the shrooms and sarcophytons etc. But they wont work for sps, most lps, and of course sps.

They DO make rockin refugium lights

We picked up a couple at HD on clearance a couple of months ago... haven't put them into action, though. Pretty yellow, I'd imagine, though...

I have these for my refugium and the light is nice! I have the one with the white reflector and the light seems really white, almost bluish, i even shined (shone?) it on a white paper which i had lightly rubbed with a yellow and a yellow-green crayon and the crayon mark was still evident with the light shining on it, i would not characterize it as "yellow" by sight..

Thumbs up

Been using two of the 65W 6500K LOAs on the refugium for 18+ months now with good success. Ran them 24/7 now for the last year with no problems. Definitely a nice white light for the money. IMHO.
