Review of Neptune AquaController 2

I just wrote a fairly high level review of the AquaController 2. I could have written pages on the subject but decided to include only enough information to help you to decide whether or not to purchase one.

Hi Bill,
Excellent review! I have an older model Aquacontroller but it seems to have all of the same functions as far as I can tell. I have to agree with you,I would buy it again even though it is a little expensive.

I agree with Bill and RWD. This is an excellent product. Though, I've had it for over a year, I haven't used it to full potential. I'm hoping that after I have my new tank setup, I'll use a lot of the features. I'm waiting to try to Moon cycle.

Hi all
Well I called Reefers from the Hotel in Florida and Brian sent via ups a Neptune Aqua controller 2 combo pack 1 to me
and I set it up right away,I just have a couple of que's to Bill E or RWD, Pik or anyone out there with the aqua controller.

How often do you need to cal. the ph probe?
should I have the ph temp. compensation option on?

My ORP says it is 184 is this bad should I have the ph compensation option on?

my reading are Temp 79.5 F
PH 8.4 with temp comp. off
ORP 184 with ph comp. off

Any help would be great

calibrate the probe once a month.

ORP should be between 300 and 450. You monitor the trend, not the reading. Your ORP will raise over the next couple of weeks as it takes a while for the probe to burn in. You will see differences in ORP after water changes etc.

What version of firmware do you have, I recently conversed with Curt and he says he's fixed the temp comp bug.

Hi Bill
Thanks for the reply
the rev. is 1.60
I looked through the manual but I didn't see any mention about the temp comp. as it relates to the ph setup or the ph comp. as it relates to the ORP setup?

so for now they are both off, do I need them on

Thanks for any info

update,
I just sent an E-mail off to Neptune with the que's so hopefully they should get back soon.
The controller is great and should make life easier just a wee bit confussed on the comp option heck I may have missed it in the manual, I did have road lag from the drive from Florida.

I did a real stupid thing today. 3 days before I get on a plane to head for the UK, I decided to update the flash bios in my AquaController. You guessed it, the flash failed, and I now have a dead controller. I have to mail it off to Curt for a new flash, but that means I'm back on timers and no ph probe and NO Web Interface! What a stupid S@#%head

I wont sleep well over there without being able to at least check on my tank.
