maxijet mod to CPR bacpac

Alright,
I know people have done this mod. I tried this tonight, but have failed miserably.

Problem: I can't get the venturi to take in air. instead it blows out water. I have to mount the ph pointing up. when pointing horizontally the venturi is fine.

HELP!!!

Don't quite understand what you mean... Did you buy the venturi kit along with the maxijet? Mine works fine.

thanks for the reply. The venturi works fine if I have the ph mounted horizontally (i.e. the output is parallel to the waters surface. Unfortunately, the way a CPR works I have to mount the ph shooting water upward.

So basically the ph with the venturi running,draws in air and mixes it with the water prior to entering the skimmer tower.

In the original configuration it is a rio 600 ph with the venturi. I thought I could just swap, but no luck.

The kit I'm talking about has to be ordered seperately. Premium Aquatics has it and this is what it looks like.

Is this what you have? The black 'basket' just slides into the outlet and the airtube hangs out of the tank. Or maybe you've reversed the water in/water out on the maxijet?

I don't have that. I will order that today and see what happens.

Figured I could use the existing "venturi system" that comes with the PH (i.e. the air tube pushed into the ph)

Hey Reed-

I went through much the same thing when I changed over to the MJ....that is I thought I could just use the existing venturi system. Nada..that doesn't work.
hmm...now that I think about it, I believe that there is a thread about changing from the Rio to the MJ.


In any case, the ph points out to the side, and works fine.

The venturi kit is on order and should solve my problem. Always count on the good folks around here to help me in my time of need.
