DIY Beckett Skimmer Project
For that past week, I have begun to build a beckett skimmer ....anyway Im about a day away from testing it out..I hope!
I have created a website with daily logs and pictures if anyone is interested. This is the first skimmer I have ever build so go easy on me For you DIY'ers, throw some feedback my way, or anyone else for that matter.
I currently have a 100 gallon reef tank, with quite possibly the worst skimmer on the planet ( SeaClone skimmer that is about 7 years old ) It just doesnt do a very good job for a 100 gallon tank. As a result, I have choose this project ( 5 foot Beckett )

Here is were Im at so far:

Make sure to make the housing around the beckett so that you can get in there and clean it out. You'd be amazed at the stuff that can get stuck in there. Looks good!

Here is a shot of the foam that it spit up a little bit ago, Im sure I have some tuning to do once it is broken in! It might be hard to scale by this pic, but that is a 4" tube that is over flowing!

I documented the build: http://www.bluechunks.net/reef/skimmer
If anyone is interested, I can fully detail it out, for TRT? I have pictures of the steps that I took to build it!

Im curently using a Mag-Drive 1800, but it can definatly handle a Mag-Drive 2400. I have a second gate valve that Im not using. I also have another hole in the top for a second beckett injector, however the cylinder is only 5" O.D., I think that two beckets would need somehting like an 8" O.D. cylinder.
