I use ARM too and have been pleased with it. I tried Korallith in the beginning but it soon turned to mud and clogged up the flow.

I've seen my a LFS in my area use big chunks of crushed coral. I like this idea, because it seems that the stuff in the crushed coral will disolve for the rest of the corals to use. Plus this stuff is coarser and it would seem that water would move through it quicker. what I mean by big junks is 2-10mm size.

My analogy may not be true, maybe crushed coral has lots of organics in it or some other unknowned/unwanted substances.

By the way the LFS's tank looks great.

Ive tried both the Korallith and Caribsea's special grade reef sand. A 20lb bag of reef sand cost me $20 and 16lbs of Korallith was $50. I cant tell a difference other than the missing $30 in my wallet. I also have to use more CO2 to get the Korallith to disolve to achieve the same levels that I was getting with the special grade reef sand.
