Using a SCWD

I'm about to get a SCWD, we've got 2 running a new acro system at the store, but does anyone know how these things work? I don't know if you can take them apart, anyone tried?

I've looked at them up close and I don't see any way to take one apart without damaging it. I blew through the inlet end of one and could hear something spinning inside. My guess is it uses some gears and a gate (just guessing). Maphew uses one.

they are a pain in the butt to get ready to install

but I've gotten it going for my clam tank

here is a picture






they are sealed, you cannot open to clean, but I assume you could dunk it in a bucket of warm Vig Water to disolve whatever is gunking it up.
