STarting a Siphon

Everything is setup painted plumbed and ready to be filled with water. Yet im mixing my extra water to add to the sump and Im realizing I dont know how to start this siphon with the Hang on U Tube Overflow I have.

I had a PM explaining it to me before but silly me i deleted it. Any tips to mastering this trick?

Ok so I figured it out. Now to just solve all the leaks in the overflow line!! Ack. hehe

How did you do it...I am going to be doing something similar to waht you are......I was thinking that I fill the tube with water, and place it in the overflow, and than start the pump......

if you take a piece if airline and put it in the U tube place it into the overflow and suck out the air this will eliminate the bubble in the utube ands start the pump. Should start that way. HTH

Yep did it exactly how stang explained.

Fill up the inner portion of hte overflow on the tank side.. Then fill up the actual HOB part of the overflow. Put some airline in the upper most sectin of the tube, submerge both ends in their proper place and suck. Works alike a dream, tricks is getting that silly airline out heh.
