What do you mean by overheating? Putting to much heat into the tank or heating up to much that they don't function. One of the draw backs I've had with the two that I have is that they do tend to heat the water more than other pumps of comporable size (maybe the price you pay for a quiet pump). I did have one overheat once more than it was supposed to and it would just shut it self down. If this is occuring call up the manufacturer they repaired mine and got it back to me in a little over a week

Geoff,

Is ti one of the old yellow and brown ones, or the newer blue and white ones? I have seen posts on another board about problems with the newer ones.

My older brown one still runs great (know on wood).
