Mag Drive 9.5 or 12? For 75RR Gallon.

Noise being an important factor here too. Which would you use for a 75 gallon reef ready tank? And why please.

I would probably purchase the mag 12. Your overflow should be able to handle 1200gph. I have a Gen x Maxk4 which I believe is rated at 1192 @4ft and my overflow handles this fine. The noise should not be too much of a factor. I used a Durso Standpipe for my overflow, and it is really quiet.

Definately go with the Mag 12. I was using a Mag 9.5 on my 90 and could have used a lot more circulation. It is always better to have too much over not enough. You can always throttle the pump back if it is too much.

I have a mag 18 on my 60 and it doesnt make any more noise than the 5, or the 7. Its a fairly quiet pump.
I'd say go with the 12

I have a mag 12 on a 110 and it is quiet so I guess my vote is for the Mag 12 also

I use a Mag950 for sump return on my 100 gallon. One thing you'll want to keep in mind is, the more water you've got going through your sump, the louder the system will potentially be. BTW, I also run an AM3K on a closed loop as my primary source of circulation. HTH.

On my 180 I'll have two 1800's for my returns and probably another one on a closed loop.
