head pressure question

i am working out plumbing on the new reef tank, and i have a question about which of two scenarios will generate more head pressure. the first one is a vertical rise, with a 90 degree bend, and then a horizontal run. the second would be a diagonal run headed up.

the rise is about a foot, the run is about 3 feet. not trying to calculate the head loss, just which would create less backpressure.

Removing the 90 will reduce the head pressure quite a bit. If diagonal is possible, do it.

The angled pipe will work better. You will also reduce your head due to friction loss by shortening the length the water must travel.
