Equipment noise? Sump Return

40 gallon tank (over hang), 80gallon rated sump. (yes I know it's overkill but I want larger tank soon, why buy two sumps) Anyways, My return line sounds like a giant elephant gargling sea water. Glub Glub Glub. Any suggestions on making it a bit quieter? Does not normaly bother me myself but drives guests up a wall when watching a movie or something in the same room.

if your overflow are built in... build a durso standpipe.
if your overflows are external.. build astockman standpipe.

stockman total cost is less than five bucks!

my reef is in my room 5 feet from my bed. i could barely fall asleep at night due to the toilet flushing sound.. after i made the stockman, for $4.30 and less than 1 hour to build and install, i have to actually stop and listen for the tank

well went to LHS (hehe) and picked up pipe and fittins. Total came out to $18ish. But that also counts for a new $15 blade I needed for dremel, so it was pretty cheap fix.. UNFORTUNATLY. I have to remake it, by adding it to my hanging return, I changed the level of my siphon, And well that 1" change in level raised my tank level enought to pour out the front of tank over the lip. EAAAAKKKK I'm definitaly glad that I was watchign it and didn't just walk away. Monday my day off i'm going to lower the return, and siphone box about half an inch. That unfortuanaly means ALOT of work considering I have to take down a shelf to get to back of tank. I think that shelf just needs to leave permently, 3rd time I've had to do this.
