Closed Loop System

Hello All.
Well I am about to install a closed loop system in my 180 acrylic.

I am using a 3-MDXQ-SC little giant for my CLS
1" intake to pump
6 return lines of 3/4" placed along the back of tank

Qustion 1- How do I keep from stirring up a cloud of Southdown sand (4-6" deep) ?

Question 2- Is anyone using the new flow control known as the Squid? If so should I have 3 among the 6 return lines for flow direction and movement?

#3- Can I drill 6 - 3/4" holes (spaced across equally) the top brace of my tank so I don't have to offset all my return lines around the enforcement frame?

Hey Plumber!
I have been using a LG 4mdq-sc as a closed loop on my 150 Through 3/4 inch bulk heads.

I wish all day long that the holes where for 1" and it was set up for volume and not pressure.

So, im in the process of ditching the LG for a Ampmaster 3000 and running 6 low/mid returns with it. The reasons are that the
little giant is too loud (even bolted to a mouse pad) and it is a high pressure pump.

So my new understanding is that the key to a good closed loop is turn over volume and not the pressure.

I sure wish I didnt have the holes in my tank for the 3/4 returns.
