I know, what can u expect when u pay $200 for a all 1/2" glass 65 gallon tank, with 6 holes drilled, 5"x5" overflow covered w/ black acrylic and black window tint on back..and here I was thinking I was getting a deal...I am so aggravated...I put the silicone on a few hours ago and am dying to find out if this will finalyl fix it, All along I thought my plumbing would leak since it was my first time, and it turns out the professional here who made the tank is the one who is having the problem. I spent about 16 hours on the lighting and almost the same on the plumbing...I just want to fix this and order my live rock already

If worse comes to worse, you can silicon a sheet of acrylic with a properly drilled hole over the rough area to patch it up....

Are those chips on the inside or outside??

If on the inside, put a good bead of silicon on the chips, then put the gasket on and tighten the bulkhead down.... then caulk around the gasket with another bead of silicon....

If silicon can seal an overflow to glass with a water tight seal, it can sure do the same for a bulkhead... Don't worry about it too much... you'll get it figured out....

Well I put a bead of silicone on the glass where the chip is (inside the tank), and put a bead on the gasket which contacts the glass, I put vasoline on the threads where the exterior nut will be, and I hand tightened down and then gave it a 1/4 turn with a wrench.....I figured it would be best to let it dry for 24 hours, I took my finger and wiped teh excess silicone around the bulkead to clean it up, do you think I should add more silicone around the bulkhead?

yeah.... it can't hurt to do so.... The only thing that would stop you is if your concerned about the asthetics of the tank...

UPDATE:

Ok so yesterday I purchased and installed a new bulkhead, I put a bead of silicone around the hole where the gasket makes contact, and put a bead of silicone on the gasket where it makes contact to the glass, I used vasoline on the threads of teh bulkhead..and then after tightening the bulkhead hand tight, turned it 1/4 with a wrench, then put a small bead of silicone around the bulkhead flange on the glass. I let that dry since yesterday afternoon...came home from work tonight...I have the tank a lil more then 3/4 filled...No leaks as of yet, I ran out of water to fill the tank, but so far so good..i will be so happy if this works. My question is, if this does work, is it a long term solution, or is there a chance it can start leaking later on? I want to thank everyone for their help, hopefully its fixed, and tommarrow I can order my Live Rock..

it should be fine just make sure you dont have to much weight pulling down on the bulkhead from the pipes of pvc anchor them or support them.Oh and bulkheads should only be tightened by hand no wrench that leads to cracks.
