zooplankton and other delights

*busting out the herb alpert records*

ok so here's a buncha questions all at once...

i bought this really expen$ive food today in a jar that has to be refrigerated called zooplankton...how much do i feed? it's all liquidy-like..*shrug* thought there'd be instructions, shoulda read better...

another thing....i keep getting subtrate trapped in my power head intake...i have very fine crushed coral and i swear i try & clean it out every day and it's getting annoying...i dont even know how it gets there cos it's inserted in the UGF tube thingy..(thos're some technical terms)

no wait i aint done...i did a nitite test today that i bought and the water didn't turn any color...at least i know my tank is not pregnant, but did i get a faulty test?

one more thing....do i ask to many questions?

Go easy on the zooplankton. You might feed 1/4 teaspoon at night a few times a week to start. I've never used this on a regular basis, though. I'm think night might be better since that is when a lot of corals go into feeding mode. Just like with regular feedings too many nutrients aren't good in a closed system.

Hmmm...not sure what to advise about the UGF. Maybe others who have converted from an UGF to a deep sand bed can help.

Your nitrite's should always be 0 after the initial cycle. Test your nitrate's instead.

You can never ask too many questions...that's why we're here ..to help!

Spam_Princess,
What are you feeding with the zooplankton? As Brooke said, I'd go easy on this with your new setup. What corals do you have now? Unless you have something that specifically needs the stuff, I'd hold off using it.

UGF setups usually use coarser size crushed coral so the pieces shouldn't be getting into the powerhead intake.

There's no such thing as too many questions!! A question un-asked is sometimes the most important one!
