Other than the obvious oil slick, the only problem I'd foresee is inhibited oxygen exchange at the surface caused by the slick.
You might be able to blot it up with paper towels on the surface.
Other than that I don't think it's a big deal. Sooner or later your skimmer will be able to get on it but the initial slick will cause the skimmer to stop fractionating.
