zenia frag

I fragged a peice of zenia and the place that I put it gets moderate flow. I know it would be better in high flow but I attached it to a large rock in the tank and cant move it without disrupting everything. How long should I wait before removing the rubber band?

Also will more zenia grow from the area I cut it from?

Jena, It will take a good week or so to attach. Also, if its Read Sea Xenia, the cut stock will re form new litle polyps before you know it. The elongated Xenia will do the same, just not as fast. Good lUck

I usually wait 48 hours, but 24 if i'm impatient. The trick is to have the bands tight, but not so tight that they cut through the base.

I don't know exactly what kind they are. Definately not pompom. Some days they are short and fat and others they are long and skinny. I will wait a week and remove and see if that works. If it wasn't for the darn coral banded I wouldn't even need the rubber band. It fit nicely in a crevice without moving but that darn shrimp kept plucking it out!
