Chillers $2000??? I paid $500 for a 1/2 hp that keeps my tank at 79F. Even in the summer with central Air on I needed to Chill my tank. Chillers are great. My tank runs between 78-80F. Some folks say you can run a bit hotter if you want.

80-82F, although I would rather run dead on at 80F. A combination of high 85F temps and MH lighting can/will lead to bleaching events over time, but lower light intensities are not such a big issue.I have occasional peaks at 84F if the tank room get a little too warm, but for the most part, I don't use anthing but fans and central air. Lighting is MH and VHO on all tanks, so intensity will not allow many forays into the higher temp range.

80-82 usually, on an especially hot day where the ac won't keep the house at 70 it'll creep up above 82.

Im at a constant 78.7 F . Don't ask why the .7 its just set that way since I set it up and its been that way ever since.
If i live in australia and the temps were over 100 I would have AC for sure.
I cannot live without my AC in the summer her. I would literally die. Or feel like it.

Beleive me tasher, i did nearly die, but i have been putting up with it for the last 22yrs so i'm kind of used to it now. The first thing im gettin' when i buy my own place is the biggest mutha of an AC i can afford. I will probably borrow extra on my mortgage for this and to do some tank related stuff ( chiller, MH lights) but it could be next summer before this happens.

When the temps are this high you actually feel like going to work, at least my office has AC.

most of us can have lower temps than 78 but reefs run better in the 78-81 range where 80 is actually the best temp. at 82 you kill ich.
