Your reef "cleaning" regiment....

Ok,

This is probably a stupid topic for a post, but I was wondering what are some people's techniques for keeping their reef tank/sump/area neat, clean and tidey. I for one am somewhat of a slob (translation: lazy), and I find myself getting a bit peeved when I see my front glass covered with coralline because I am too lazy to razor blade it off. Of course this translates into other area, but perhaps I just dont have good techniques/schedules for doing cleaning. Just curious on any tips/tricks people have when keeping everything organized. Mainly because i see some **** nice tanks out that are so organized and clean I want to scream!

one thing I do for my sump is throw in a powerhead to blow the gunk around and then I hang a powerfilter with floss in it on the sump to pick up the crap. I do it once a month

Hmmm, i think i speak for a lot of us TRT'ers out here,,,,,
we clean just b4 company comes over! LOL
i myself , tend to just do a glass clean after a couple of days(the lawnmower blenny seems to luv to mouth/rasp the entire front glass).
do the front glass with a magnet, every couple o days,
razor blade clean the front and sides(back coraline covered) once a week or so.
during the week , clean the entire skimmer pluck any hair algae that wants to pop up(lazy tang n foxface )

BTW: a old credit card works well for the coraline, or the Kent line of scrapers are GREAT!(well worth the $$)

i kinda tend to do the obvious problem areas first , then if i have time, do a lil better clean up as needed.
i try to space it out as not to make it a real chore,,,
clean a bit ,,,sit at watch the tank, clean,,,watch, repeat, rinse

Nice ideas...my problem is I have a full canopy which is kinda hard to get off so it is difficult to scrape the sides, but I will try with the credit card and see if that works better. I'm all up with the cleaning when company comes over though .
